PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

RN - PACU

Job Details:

• Provide care for patients pre-op, phase I, and phase II recovery
• Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours and can be days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Shifts vary between ASU and PACU units
• No guarantee of hours or shift preference
• On-call shifts 0-3 times per month, including 8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday on-call
• Assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, and track other indicators of patient stability or complications
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and caring for patients in Phase I recovery
• Apply critical care skills to monitor and support post-surgical patients
• 2+ years of experience as a critical care RN (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute for PACU experience
• Equipment utilized includes Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
• Required certifications: Valid BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association
• PALS credential from the American Heart Association is recommended and may be required
• Other specialty-related certifications preferred and may be required (i.e., NIHSS and TNCC)
• Valid professional license within the state of practice required
• Hawaii state license must be active by the start of the assignment
