Opportunity:

RN - ICU Neuro

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week available
• 13-week contract
• Patient ratio of 2:1, with potential flex up to 3:1 during high census periods
• Average daily census of 11-12 patients
• Every other weekend requirement
• No on-call requirement
• Float requirement applies
• Scheduling per unit needs
• Scrubs: Navy blue and white
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required - strong neuro critical care background required, not just general ICU
• Prior travel experience required - first-time travelers not accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills include: ventilator management, IV starts, neuro intensive care, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, CVA and acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, care of ventilated patients, isolation precautions and PPE, and lumbar drain experience
• Preferred skills include: arterial line management
• Patient population includes: strokes (ischemic and hemorrhagic including SAH), SDH, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling and clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis
• Special equipment includes: EVD, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Unit systems: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Unit orientation: 24 hours over 2 days or 2 nights
