RN - Cardiac Tele

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Travel experience required
• Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Patient ratio: 1:5-6 days and nights; 1:6 weekends; 32-bed unit
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must have prior experience managing continuous IV drips including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
• Must demonstrate basic arrhythmia knowledge, hemodynamic monitoring, and care of patients post PCI
• Unit functions as Overflow IMCU managing arrhythmias, cardioversion, cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, stable cardiac arrhythmias (A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), surgical cases (cholecystectomy, appendectomies, chest tubes, biliary drains), post cardiac cath, TR Bands, DKA, and occasional vascular, ortho, or CVA patient overflow
• Skills required include cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, heparin protocols, pre/post cardiac cath care, TR Band management, and peripheral line care
• Special equipment: Respiratory Therapy available 24/7 for High Flow and BiPAP; telemetry competency exam required
• Unit systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Scheduling type: Variable; typically every other weekend with permanent staff scheduled first and travelers filling in gaps
• Approximately 6 weekend shifts per contract
• Floating required to like units within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Call is rare; response time is 2 hours; travelers typically do not manage Precedex
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• Holiday coverage required: If 1-2 major holidays fall within assignment, traveler is expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall within assignment, traveler is expected to work 2 of them
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Georgia or Compact nursing license required
• Epic charting experience preferred
