Med Surg RN Job in Des Moines, IA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a 22-bed Medical-Surgical unit at UnityPoint – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. This is a temporary contract position running 91 days, starting November 9, 2026.

Role & Schedule

• Shift: 3x12 nights per week
• Patient ratio: 1:5–6
• Every 3rd weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Required to work 1–2 winter holidays, including Thanksgiving
• Float across all campuses as needed
• Uniform: Navy blue scrubs

Patient Population

You'll care for general medical-surgical patients, with focus on renal, transplant, and urology populations. Level II trauma experience is required; Level I trauma experience is highly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Weekly pay: $2,374

Qualifications Required

• Active Iowa license or compact/multistate license
• Minimum 24 months of Med Surg experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Strong renal and urology experience
• Proficient transplant care experience
• At least 1 completed travel contract within the previous 15 months
• EPIC EMR experience
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
