Med Surg RN Job in Hilo, HI

Hilo Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med Surg position on nights. This is a 13-week contract assignment beginning September 14, 2026.

Role Overview

You will work the night shift in a 77-bed medical unit, providing direct patient care and performing general medical-surgical nursing duties. Your typical schedule is 36 hours per week following the first full week of orientation, though you must remain flexible with various shift lengths and days as assigned. Nurse-to-patient ratios on nights are 1:8.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct care to adult medical-surgical patients
• Manage wound vacs and chest tubes
• Utilize Meditech EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Float to the Laulima Unit and Cardiovascular Unit as needed
• Maintain professional nursing attire at all times

Requirements

• Active State of Hawaii nursing license at assignment start
• 2–10 years of nursing experience
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification

What to Expect

There is no guarantee of hours or shift preference. You will receive orientation time for each unit to which you are assigned. The facility will support your transition into the role and the various units within the medical center.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,379.
