Respiratory Therapist Job in Austin, TX

You are a Respiratory Therapist seeking a 13-week night shift contract position in the NICU at St. David's Medical Center in Austin, Texas. This role offers the opportunity to provide specialized respiratory care to premature infants and neonates in a dedicated critical care setting.

Position Details

• 13-week contract assignment
• Night shift: 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Rotating weekend schedule with approximately 4 weekend shifts per month
• No on-call requirements
• Patient volume: approximately 35–40 patients per shift

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage patients on GE ventilators, V60 BiPAPs, and Airvo HFNC equipment
• Provide care to premature infants under 32 weeks gestation
• Perform nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, and arterial blood gas collection
• Assist with intubation and mechanical ventilation transport
• Administer inhaled nitric oxide therapy
• Assist with bronchoscopy procedures
• Manage ventilator settings and patient monitoring
• Document patient care in the Meditech EMR system

Requirements

• Current Respiratory Therapist credential
• Adult respiratory experience in an acute care setting is required
• Adult critical care experience in an ICU or ED is preferred
• Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary team members
• Competency in neonatal respiratory care procedures
