Med Surg RN Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment on the Medical-Surgical unit. You will work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, three days per week, with a guaranteed 36 hours of pay weekly. This position begins August 10, 2026.

Unit and Patient Care

You will be assigned to the MAP Unit, which covers Medical and Pediatrics populations. As a traveler, you will care for medical patients only and will not take pediatric assignments. You may float to other inpatient units as needed. Patient ratios are typically 1:4–5 on days and 1:6–7 on nights.

Your patients will present with a range of acute and chronic conditions, including:

• Respiratory illnesses and stroke
• Neurological conditions and gastrointestinal illness
• Diabetic management and renal failure
• Urinary tract disorders and sepsis
• Wound care and clotting disorders
• Infectious disease processes and acute alcohol withdrawal

Scheduling and Compensation

You will rotate every other weekend and every other holiday. The contract includes 36 hours of low census unbillable time; the unit typically manages low census in 4-hour increments and may ask you to work partial shifts of 4 or 8 hours as needed. Weekly pay is $2,377.08.

Requirements

You must hold a current Wisconsin RN License and BLS certification (AHA or ARC). EPIC charting experience is required. A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required; Trauma Level II experience is highly preferred. An Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Scrubs may be any color.
