ED - Emergency Room

RN - ED

Job Details:

• 13-week travel assignment with ASAP start date
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Weekends required
• No 48-hour weekly guarantees
• Blocked scheduling may be requested
• At least 2+ years of ED RN experience required
• At least 1+ year of travel experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Experience as a preceptor and/or charge nurse preferred but not required; willingness to help precept eventually is required
• Must be able to handle all patients from ESI level 1-5
• Must be able to maintain a 4-5:1 patient ratio, assuming ESI level 3 average patient
• Must be able to care for stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis patients
• Must be able to triage and assess patients quickly
• Required clinical skills include PIV, NG/OG tubes, foleys, splinting, wound care, and port access/deaccess
• Ultrasound-guided IV preferred
• Must know how to assist with arterial line, central line, and chest tube placement
• Must be willing to answer call lights and transport patients
• On nights and weekends, ED RNs are required to make calls for psychiatric patient placement
• All RNs required to be willing to float to other departments if not needed in the ED (average float is 1 shift per 13-week period)
• On night shift, RNs are required to mix some medication drips with vial to bag adapter
• Responsible for ensuring appropriate EMTALA paperwork is completed per regulatory guidelines
• EMR system: EDIS Medhost; Medication dispensing: Omnicell (no Bar Code Medication Administration/scanning in the ED)
• Serve patients of all ages from neonates to elderly
