PCU Registered Nurse Job in Bloomington, IN

IU Health Bloomington Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 22, 2026, paying $2,516 per week.

Position Details

• 4x12 hour night shifts, 48 hours guaranteed per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Role Overview

You will work on an acuity adaptable boarding unit where patients arrive from the ED and remain until discharge or transfer. This is a high-paced environment with potential for up to 15 admissions daily. You may float to an inpatient PCU unit as needed. Patient ratios range from 1:4–6 depending on acuity; during high influx periods, you may be asked to accept higher ratios.

You will care for adult and geriatric patients at Med-Surg through ICU levels of acuity. The unit operates with team nursing principles; you must be comfortable delegating to and working alongside LPNs.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience; travel experience required
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Cerner charting system experience

Required Clinical Skills

• Blood product administration
• CVA care and heparin protocols
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV insulin protocols
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration
• Telemetry monitoring
• PICC line, central line, and peripheral line management
• PCA management
• Isolation precautions and PPE
• Rapid response and code team coordination
