PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday requirement included in schedule
• No on-call or standby requirement; overtime is available
• 32-bed unit (all private rooms) consisting of 22 Stepdown and 12 Floor beds
• Stepdown ratio: 1 RN to 3 patients; Floor ratio: 1 RN to 6 patients
• Nurse aides available with 1 Clinical Associate per 8-10 patients
• Charge Nurse and House Supervisors available 24/7
• Care for cardiac surgery post-op patients including CABG, mid cabs, maze, valve replacements, Tendyne, mitral clip, LVAD, heart transplants, and TAVRs
• Care for vascular surgery post-op patients including AAA repair, CEA, femoral bypass, angiograms, and amputations
• Cardiology patients include STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, Watchman, and cardiac cath procedures such as PTCA, stents, ICDs, ablations, and pacemakers
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and Dobutamine
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Cardiac monitor technicians housed on unit and interpret all strips
• Floating may be required to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute
• 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Solid Royal Blue and White
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Cardiac and vascular experience required
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
