PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM or night shift equivalent
• Every other weekend requirement with potential holiday rotation
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 depending on acuity
• 30-bed unit caring for cardiac patients, post-pneumonia, post-cath lab, seizures, ETOH/CIWA protocols, and pacemaker patients
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience
• Must be comfortable with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips
• Required to titrate drips including cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax
• Expected to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips and identify rhythms
• Expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment including BiPAP, Airvo, and trachs as appropriate
• Travelers may be floated to any inpatient unit and are first to float
• 2-day general orientation followed by 1 day with a preceptor
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
