ED RN Job in Santa Cruz, CA

Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, CA is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel position starting October 26, 2026, paying $2,240 per week.

Position Details

• Three 12-hour evening shifts per week
• Shift start times: 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM, or 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• No floating between units

The Role

You will work in a 24-bed emergency room handling an average of 150 patients per day. You will manage a patient ratio of 1 to 4, treating a diverse mix of adult and pediatric patients presenting with acute and emergent conditions, including a large homeless population. You will also manage psych hold patients for short durations. Higher acuity patients are transported to an outside facility.

• Phillips telemetry equipment and ventilators available
• Charge nurse and patient care technician support on unit
• Hospitalist or intensivist available in-house 24/7
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy available during daytime hours

Requirements and Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of emergency room experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
• NIHSS certification required
• TNCC certification required
• Moderate Conscious Sedation competency testing required before start
• Navy scrubs required

Onboarding

You will receive a 2-shift floor-specific orientation. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated, and duo pairs will not be guaranteed the same schedule.
