ED RN Job in Santa Cruz, CA

Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse for their 24-bed Emergency Room. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting November 9, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,695.68.

Shift Details

• 3x12-hour night shifts per week
• Primary start times: 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Block scheduling not available
• Schedule partners not guaranteed matching hours

About the Unit

The ED averages 150 patients daily with acute, emergent, adult, and pediatric cases. You will maintain a 1:4 patient ratio and work in a fast-paced environment with a significant homeless population and psychiatric holds managed short-term. Higher-acuity patients are transferred to higher-level facilities as needed. No floating is required.

Staffing and Support

• Charge nurse on duty
• PCT nurse aides available
• Hospitalist or intensivist in-house 24/7
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy available during daytime hours
• No IV team on unit

Technology and Requirements

• EMR: Cerner FirstNet
• Telemetry: Phillips
• Ventilator experience required
• Navy scrubs required
• 2-shift floor-specific orientation

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years emergency room experience
• Current ACLS, BLS (AHA), and PALS certifications
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications required
• Moderate Conscious Sedation competency testing required prior to start
• BSN not required

You must be ready to work independently in a high-volume, acute care setting and handle a diverse patient population with complex needs.
