PCU Registered Nurse Job in Leonardtown, MD

Join MedStar Saint Marys Hospital as a Registered Nurse on our Progressive Care Unit (PCU), also known as Intermediate Care (IMC). This 91-day travel assignment offers you the opportunity to work 3 × 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM with a competitive weekly pay of $1,989. Start date: October 12, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Every other weekend coverage required, with unit-directed scheduling based on operational needs
• No on-call requirements
• Patient ratio of 1:4 on the IMC unit
• Float assignments to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units as needed (ratios 1:5 to 1:6)

Clinical Requirements and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience required
• PCU, IMC, or Step-Down experience mandatory
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred

Certifications and Skills

• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Required proficiencies: BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care, chest tube management, CVA care, feeding tube management, heparin protocols, high-flow nasal cannula, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, cardiac drip management (non-titration), hemodialysis pre/post care, telemetry monitoring, and IV placement and maintenance

Facility Resources

MedStar Saint Marys Hospital provides bedside monitoring for up to 8 patients, ultrasound-guided IV placement, cardiac monitoring, and lift equipment. You'll treat common diagnoses including CHF, diabetes, COPD/asthma, sepsis, pneumothorax, ESRD/dialysis, hypertension/hypotension, alcohol withdrawal, and post-surgical patients. Special procedures include chest tubes, PCA infusions, non-titratable drips, and IV infusions.

Interdisciplinary support is available through physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and phlebotomy services.

Licensing
