RN - MS/Stepdown

Job Details:

• Med/Surg unit position requiring stepdown/PCU experience
• Must have acute care surgical floor experience
• ENT and/or Transplant experience preferred
• Care for patients pre or post-surgical services with a focus on surgical experience
• Provide care for patients post-operatively including those with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, nasogastric tubes, or dobhoff tubes
• Patient ratios are 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for stepdown area
• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
• Notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients
• Assists physician in examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
• Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and intervenes when necessary
• Administers medication as prescribed and initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products
• Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge
• Informs patients and families of hospital procedures
• Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
• Delegates tasks to support staff
