PCU RN Job in Oklahoma City, OK

OU Health in Oklahoma City is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work nights on a 16-hour shift basis for an 89-week assignment beginning July 20, 2026.

Your Role

As a PCU RN, you will provide direct nursing care to patients with a range of health conditions, from straightforward to complex diagnoses. You will manage an assigned group of patients and maintain detailed documentation of patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Your responsibilities include monitoring and recording physiological data, observing for changes in patient condition, and intervening when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate medication records
• Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
• Assist physicians during patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments
• Track all changes in physician orders for assigned patients
• Communicate with patients and families regarding care plans during hospitalization and at discharge
• Explain hospital procedures and answer questions from patients and families
• Make appropriate referrals to support services based on patient care needs
• Delegate tasks to support staff as needed and coordinate care delivery
• Deliver competent, consistent patient care within established standards

You will work under general supervision and be expected to exercise professional judgment in prioritizing patient needs and managing your workload. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team are essential to success in this role.
