About this role

You will work as a Med Surg RN on the Women's Medicine Unit at Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia. This is an 89-day travel assignment beginning June 29, 2026, with three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM). You will earn $2,068.76 weekly.

Unit Environment & Staffing

  • Patient ratio of 4:1 to 5:1
  • Care for female patients or patients who identify as female, ages 18 and above
  • Hospitalist in house 24/7, respiratory therapy available 24/7, and pharmacy available 24/7
  • Telemetry and continuous pulse ox monitoring with 24/7 remote monitoring at central station and bedside using Bedboard
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • First to float to other med-surgical units as needed

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Manage acute respiratory failure, CHF exacerbation, altered mental status, sepsis, GI bleed, sickle cell crises, cancer-related diagnoses, and end-of-life hospice care
  • Administer and titrate Heparin drips; manage cardiac and insulin drips without titration
  • Operate high-flow oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAP ventilation systems
  • Start IVs and draw blood on the unit (IV team available for midline and PICC line placement)
  • Work independently with strong clinical judgment and critical thinking

Schedule & Requirements

  • Four weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period
  • One major and one minor holiday rotation required
  • Three orientation shifts on the unit with a preceptor
  • Must pass an ECG Exam on day 2 (study guide and session provided by clinical team)

Qualifications

  • Current RN license
  • 2 years of clinical experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Epic EMR access required
  • Experience with precepting and/or charge responsibilities highly preferred

You must be able to function independently and support a less experienced team in a fast-paced environment.
