Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM on a Neuro unit
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted; overtime not billed until after 48 hours if on 48-hour schedule
• Contract lengths of 13 to 26 weeks accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:6 for days, nights, and weekends
• Weekend requirement of 5 to 6 weekend shifts per contract (equates to every other weekend)
• Float requirement applies; travelers float first
• Manager creates schedule (block scheduling)
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Scrubs not provided; navy blue required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills include: CVA management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, Med/Surg, telemetry, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care and management, and starting and maintaining IVs
• Preferred experience: Neuro experience, NIH stroke scale, and charge nurse role experience or willingness to learn
• Patient diagnoses focus on general medicine with an emphasis on neurology
• Documentation and systems used: Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Patients served include adults and geriatrics
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
