ICU Registered Nurse Job in Chesapeake, VA

Join Chesapeake Regional Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in our Intensive Care Unit. You will provide critical care to a diverse patient population including neurosurgical and post-stroke patients, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis, MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac catheterization cases.

Position Details

• Schedule: 3x12 nights (4x12 shifts also available)
• Contract length: 147 days, starting August 24, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,203.20
• Every other weekend, floating, and holidays required within contract
• 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours
• Extended assignments through January 9, 2027 available
• Must work two of the three winter holidays
• Typical patient ratio: 1:2-3

Clinical Requirements

• Minimum 3 years critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience may be considered
• Strong neuro critical care experience required, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, and stroke management
• Proficiency in ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia recognition and management, and emergency response
• May float to Step-Down Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held

Required Credentials and Licenses

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• BLS (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Epic proficiency (no exceptions)
• EKG testing required; must achieve 80% or higher (one attempt, no remediation available)

Eligibility

• Previous travel experience preferred
• Local candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible
• Candidates with any license or background hits will not be considered
