Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Mixed acuity unit serving PCU, MS Tele, and MS patients
• Patient ratios of 1:3-5 for days and weekends and 1:3-7 for nights, adjusted by acuity
• Every other weekend requirement
• Maximum of 7 days requested time off
• Float requirement to sister units: West 2, West 3, and Observation unit
• 12-hour unit orientation
• Block scheduling type
• Must wear any solid color scrubs
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must reside more than 50 miles from facility
• Epic charting experience is a hard requirement; Pyxis and SBAR communication also utilized
• New York nursing license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: PALS, TCAR
• Required skills include: telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, Post MI, IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, feeding tube care and management, continuous bladder irrigation, renal failure, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care and management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, managing cardiac drips, PCA, thrombolytic agents, titrating cardiac drips, CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, traction, mastectomy, chest tubes, external CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of ABGs, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Patient diagnoses include: PCU and MS Tele, surgical pre and post, ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, ortho surgery, and overflow medical diagnosis patients
• Rare pediatric patients; travelers not assigned to pediatric patients unless experienced
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
