PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

Join Mission Hospital's Progressive Care Unit as a registered nurse on a 40-bed unit located on the 5th floor of the Owen Heart Center. You'll provide direct patient care in a cardiac step-down environment with a standard patient ratio of 1:4 (stretching to 1:5 with increased census).

Your responsibilities will include:

• Caring for patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedure patients following cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker insertion, ICD placement, or ablation
• Operating equipment including Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners
• Managing titratable and cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutrex, insulin drips, heparin, and diuretics
• Documenting patient care in the Cerner EMR system
• Performing bedside cardioversion procedures
• Potential floating to med-surg units, stepdown units, and ER holding as needed

Required qualifications:

• RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry experience
• Experience with titratable and cardiac IV medications

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge experience

Schedule and requirements:

• Three 12-hour night shifts weekly (6:45 PM–7:15 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Dress code: all white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants

This 91-day travel assignment offers $2,102.40 weekly compensation and begins September 14, 2026.
