RN - Med Surg Orthopedic

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every third weekend requirement (Friday and Saturday considered weekend for nights)
• Self-scheduling available
• Patient ratio of 1:5 with charge nurse taking assignments
• 28 beds plus 22 overflow capacity
• Required to pass open book exam during orientation with 90% score to continue
• First week classroom orientation followed by one 12-hour shift on unit
• BLS certification required
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Must live outside 50-mile radius and cannot be employed with CommonSpirit facilities
• Driver's license required for distance verification
• Artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas
• Floating required to PCU and behavioral health unit
• EPIC charting system
• Focus on hourly rounding and bedside shift report
• Care for patients with total joint replacements, orthopedic procedures, COPD, diabetes, wounds, IV infusions, dementia, oncology, fractures, sepsis, pneumonia, and other medical conditions
• Administer IV antibiotics, heparin, antithrombotics, and narcotics (no drip titration required)
• Work with nurse aides at 1:10 ratio and monitor techs available
• Must be flexible, self-directed, and comfortable with diverse patient population
