Opportunity:

RN - Observation Unit

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend requirement on a set rotation (weekends 1 and 3 or weekends 2 and 4)
• Rotational holiday schedule with core staff
• Block scheduling available as long as unit needs are met
• Unit: 3 Pavilion / 3T - Pulmonary & Observation with 32 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Monitor Techs available 24/7; Charge RNs read strips; RNs required to review strips each shift
• Nurse aides available 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (1:10 ratio) and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (1:15 ratio)
• House Supervisor available 24/7; Charge Nurse carries modified patient assignment (usually 2 patients)
• Traveler may be asked to fill in Charge Nurse role and cross-trained if willing
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with respiratory diagnoses and medical conditions
• Manage trachs (non-vented patients on trach collar or room air)
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem (up to 15mg/hr), Lasix, Dopamine (low dose renal perfusion only), and Amiodarone
• Work with RT equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow O2, IV pumps, sequential compression devices, pulse oximetry, and specialty beds
• Perform trach care as RT maintains the vent
• May be required to float to 4P or 5P Med-Surg units or the Emergency Department to care for boarded patients
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Med-Surg/Telemetry/Critical Drips/Trach Care experience required; Peritoneal Dialysis experience preferred
• Strong cardiac background required; previous travel experience required
• Scrub color: Navy for RNs/LPNs; solid color scrubs only, no embroidery or patterns
• Approved outerwear: WVU Medicine or solid color fleece zip-ups in grey, black, navy, or royal blue
• Solid undershirts permitted in white, grey, or black to match scrub top color
• Closed-toe shoes required; no Crocs permitted
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment or extension; 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks
