Med Surg RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a registered nurse on a 36-bed Medical-Surgical unit. You will work the night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) on a 3x12 schedule, caring for post-operative patients in a structured, team-oriented environment.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with a typical ratio of 1:6
• Perform wound care including dressing changes and drain management
• Maintain patient drains and support post-operative recovery
• Operate Baxter IV pumps, Medfusion pumps, and sequential compression devices (SCDs)
• Document all care activities in the Meditech electronic medical record system
• Collaborate with the night shift team: 1 clinical coordinator, 6 RNs, and 2 techs

Required Qualifications

• Current RN licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with post-operative patient populations
• Competency in wound care, dressing changes, and drain management
