Med Surg RN Job in Fishersville, VA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a fast-paced inpatient surgical unit at Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA. This is a 12-hour night shift role (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) on a 3x12 schedule with every other weekend required. The assignment runs for 182 days, starting November 2, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,133.

Patient Care & Experience

You'll care for patients across all age groups—adolescents, adults, and geriatrics—with a patient ratio of 6:1. Pediatric surgical patients aged 12 and above may be included depending on the procedure. Patient diagnoses span general surgery, abdominal surgery, urological surgery, orthopedic surgery, hysterectomy, mastectomy, spine surgery, and bariatric surgery. Previous surgical experience is required. You should be comfortable with floating to other units at times, and this expectation must be confirmed before final signature.

Required Skills & Certifications

You must hold current BLS certification. Required clinical skills include accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draws, chest tube management, colostomy and ileostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube care, heparin administration, high-flow nasal cannula, insulin administration, isolation precautions and PPE, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, orthopedic trauma care, oxygen administration, PCA management, peripheral line care, peripheral nerve block catheters, phlebotomy, PICC line management, post-angiogram care, post-MI care, IV initiation and maintenance, telemetry remote monitoring, total joint replacement, rapid response and code team participation, and wound care including wound vac management.

Preferences & Support

Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers are accepted. Previous charge experience and community hospital experience are preferred. Charting system experience with Meditech is preferred. Block scheduling is not guaranteed, but shifts will be grouped together when possible. You'll receive 40 orientation hours. Interdisciplinary support is available through physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary.

Holiday Policy

If one holiday falls within your assignment, expect to work it. If two holidays fall within the assignment, expect to work one. If three holidays fall within the assignment, expect to work two. Any requested time off must be included in submission covers and assignment confirmation documents.
