Certified Surgical Technologist Job in Paducah, KY

Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. in Paducah, Kentucky is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a 13-week contract position. You will work Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with on-call responsibility of 1–2 nights per week. Weekly pay is $2,220.

In this role, you will serve as the primary scrub person or assistant during operative procedures. Your responsibilities include:

• Scrubbing into cases and ensuring all instruments and supplies are available for scheduled procedures
• Setting up cases with thoroughly sterilized instruments and maintaining the sterile field throughout surgery
• Passing instruments and assisting the physician as needed during surgical cases
• Assisting with cutting suture material and applying electrocautery to clamps under direct surgeon supervision
• Performing instrument, sponge, and sharps counts before and after each case
• Assisting with draping and patient positioning in collaboration with the circulating RN
• Alerting the circulating nurse of any identified risks or variances from standard operating procedures
• Performing post-case cleaning duties including gross decontamination of instruments
• Breaking down instruments for further cleaning in Central Sterile Processing and following all standards for instrument transport and return
• Notifying appropriate leadership of any damaged instruments at the end of a case
• Ensuring the surgical suite is disinfected and fully stocked for the next procedure
• Checking par levels and restocking rooms as needed

You will complete all mandatory education and maintain compliance with all HR and Employee Health requirements. You must follow all safe practices in the OR and complete age-specific annual competency assessments.

Requirements: Current Certified Surgical Technologist credential is required.
