Emergency Department RN Job in Philadelphia, PA

Temple University Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department. This is a 13-week contract position offering three 12-hour night shifts per week, with a weekly pay rate of $2,235.

Position Requirements:

• Active Pennsylvania RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 full year of recent Emergency Department experience in high-acuity settings
• No new graduates or orientation-only experience considered
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required

Clinical Expectations:

You will manage patient ratios of 1:4 in standard ED, 1:3 in high-acuity areas, and 1:2 in trauma and critical care settings. Patient populations span all age groups—infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric—with approximately 75% ambulatory outpatient volume and 25% inpatient boarders. Pediatric volume runs about 5%.

You must demonstrate independent competency with airway and respiratory management, including breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP, mechanical ventilation, RSI medication administration, procedural sedation, chest tube setup and care, and tracheostomy care. You will care for trauma patients, cardiac and neurologic emergencies, medical and surgical emergencies, burn patients, and behavioral health crises. When boarders from NICU or PICU are managed in the ED, you will provide appropriate care. ED Techs provide ancillary support.

Schedule and Logistics:

• Night shift: three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend required; no special schedule requests accommodated
• Paid time off: up to 5 days auto-approved; if 5 consecutive days taken, 1 week will be added to contract end date
