Emergency Room RN Job in Altoona, PA

Join West Central – UPMC Altoona as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room. You will work 12-hour shifts, three days per week (approximately 36 hours weekly) and earn $2,115 per week. This is a 90-day travel assignment beginning August 17, 2026.

In this role, you will function as a Professional Staff Nurse and active member of the care delivery team. Your responsibilities include managing patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration. You will formulate daily goals and individualized plans of care using a holistic approach, applying the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment.

Your clinical expertise will focus on:

• Demonstrating critical thinking to identify clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual patient care needs
• Actively participating in department-specific quality improvement efforts
• Utilizing research and evidence-based practice to support improvement in clinical care
• Serving as a highly engaged and full partner on the care team
• Providing detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families throughout the episode of care
• Maintaining productive working relationships internally and externally

Requirements:

• RN license (current and valid)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• BLS certification
• PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 compliance
• BSN preferred
