Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 or 48 hours accepted per week
• Assigned to every other weekend
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 (must be comfortable with these ratios)
• Float requirement to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding
• Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster
• 28 hours of orientation (12-hour unit orientation and 16-hour organizational education)
• Scrubs: Navy
• Minimum 2 years of experience required within the last 5 years
• First-time travelers accepted
• Active RN license required (NC or Compact license accepted)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required certifications: BLS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Epic documentation experience required; Pyxis and SBAR systems also used
• Required skills include: heparin drips, PCA, colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts, management of dysrhythmias, O2 protocol management, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), nasal cannula, oral suctioning, tracheostomy management, and wound care
• Preferred skills include: ACLS, interpretation of dysrhythmias, pre/post hemodialysis management, management of drips, CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, and spinal cord injuries
• Patient diagnoses include: severe injury to bones, joints, and/or soft tissue, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, neurological trauma/nerve damage, and subdural hematoma
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
