ICU - Intensive Care Unit

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Patient ratio of 1:2 (1.5:1 on days, nights, and weekends)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; travel experience required
• First-time travelers not accepted
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• Will float within service line to ICU units and down to med/surg as needed
• Block scheduling not available
• Pre-approved time off limited to a maximum of 7 days per contract
• 21-bed multi-disciplinary ICU unit; travel RNs will not take fresh cardiac cases but may be scheduled in the CTICU for coverage
• Strong cardiac knowledge required
• Scrub color: Navy
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain/cardiac/arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
• Unit specialties include pre and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries; medicine and neuro-medicine overflow; pre- and post-transplant; and end of life/organ donation
• Special equipment includes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: CPI, TNCC
• Required skills include: Medical Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, 12-lead EKG/ECG, central venous pressure monitoring, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, chronic/acute renal failure, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP management, care of ventilated patients, interpretation of arterial blood gases, respiratory failure, suctioning (ETT, NT), ventilator management, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, and surgical wounds with drains/wound vac
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred; Trauma Level II experience required
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
