Job Details:

• Position available for 36 or 48 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts available in either 3x12 or 4x12 format
• Patient ratio of 1:2 for days, nights, and weekends
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, with 2 years specifically in a neuro setting
• Experience in a Comprehensive Stroke Center strongly preferred
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Charting system: EPIC (preferred experience)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: TNCC, BSN, 10 hours of stroke education
• Must pass Relias EKG exam - Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias required
• Patient diagnoses include: ischemic strokes (post-thrombectomy, post-tPA), neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, CNS infections, hemorrhagic strokes, subdural/epidural hematomas, ICP monitoring (EVDs/bolts), and neurotrauma (GSW, MVC, spinal cord injuries)
• Special procedures include: vasoactive medications, central line/arterial line management, ICP monitoring, CRRT, hypothermia/hyperthermia management, and spinal precautions
• Special equipment: EVD and bolt
• Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drain (EVD), high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, phlebotomy, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, starting and maintaining IVs, suctioning (ETT, NT), titrating cardiac drips, and ventilator management
• Will float within service line or to other ICUs as needed
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13-week contract; cancelled shifts must be the regular assigned shift length
• Maximum of 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and more
• Unit consists of 29 beds with a daily census of 25 patients
• Patients served are adults only
