Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Day shift position with 48-hour shifts, with possible approval for 36-hour shifts
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg/Tele experience required, strictly enforced
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted unless they have 5+ years of specialty experience
• Team nursing model with a ratio of 1:12 (RN/LPN/PCT for 12 patients), effectively 1:6-7 due to shared caseload
• On-call required as needed
• Weekend coverage required as needed; weekend block schedule may be considered and must be discussed during interview
• Block scheduling not available
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Large hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Daily census of 30-35 patients; unit has 45 beds
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Must be proficient with skills including telemetry/remote monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of cardiac drips (no titration), central line blood draw, blood product administration, tracheostomy care/management, chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, heparin and insulin management, PCA, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and non-invasive airway management
• Additional skills include pre/post hemodialysis management, pre/post neurosurgery, pre/post thoracic surgery, BiPAP/CPAP management, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, surgical drains, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
• Holiday coverage required: must work 2 of 3 holidays if Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's all fall within the assignment; must work at least 1 of 2 holidays if only 2 fall within the assignment
• ADN accepted; BSN not required for this position
• Must hold an active RN license in the state or a compact RN license compliant with NLC guidelines
