Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 36 or 48 hours per week
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg/Tele experience required; 3+ years preferred
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Large hospital experience required
• Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted unless they have 5+ years of experience in the specialty
• On-call required as needed
• Weekend coverage required as needed; weekend block schedule may be considered and must be discussed during interview
• Block scheduling is not available
• Patient ratio is 1:12 utilizing a team nursing model, which comes out to approximately 1:6 or 1:7 due to splitting the caseload between 2 RNs, an LPN, and a Med Nurse
• Care for adult and geriatric patients on a 45-bed floor with a daily census of 30-35 patients
• Primary patient population includes surgical oncology patients with medical oncology and medical-surgical overflow
• Patients frequently present with central lines including PAC, PICC lines, and midlines
• Perform wound care, drain management, ostomy care, and Foley catheter care
• Manage PCA pumps and administer chemotherapy (ONS nurses only)
• Limited phlebotomy coverage at night
• Skills required include IV start and conscious sedation; chemotherapy administration for qualified nurses
• Interdisciplinary support available including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Lift Teams, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• EPIC experience preferred
• ADN accepted; BSN not required for this position
• Must hold an active RN license in Tennessee or a compact RN license in compliance with NLC guidelines
• Must be willing to work 2 of 3 end-of-year holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) if all three fall within the assignment period, or at least 1 of 2 holidays if only 2 fall within the assignment
• May be floated between like units or campuses within a 20-mile radius
