NICU RN Job in Lafayette, LA

You'll work as a registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 26, 2026.

Schedule and Pay

• 4 shifts of 12 hours each week, nights from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM (manager open to 3x12 arrangement)
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Must work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Weekly pay: $2,401
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Self-scheduling unit

Clinical Details

• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Unit census averages 30 patients; 46 total beds
• Floating required to mother baby and pediatrics units
• Patient population: neonates with prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, TTN, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, feeding difficulties, thermoregulation issues, and NOWS

Required Procedures and Equipment

• Special procedures: umbilical lines, lumbar puncture, PICC placement, intubation
• Equipment operation: oscillator, jet ventilator, bubble CPAP, HFNC, transcutaneous CO2 monitoring
• Clinical skills: blood and blood product administration, neonatal dosage calculations, neonatal sepsis care, hyperbilirubinemia management, phototherapy, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring

Qualifications

• Current RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience for previous travel nurses; minimum 3 years for first-time travelers
• BLS and NRP certifications required (AHA)
• Epic charting system experience required
