NICU Registered Nurse Job in Lafayette, LA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the NICU at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, a 46-bed neonatal intensive care unit serving critically ill newborns. This is a night shift role with hours from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM on a 3x12 schedule. You'll be based in Lafayette, Louisiana, and earn $2,062 per week for a 91-day assignment starting October 26, 2026.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a patient ratio of 1:3 with an average daily census of 30
• Caring for neonates with diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, TTN, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, feeding difficulties, thermoregulation challenges, and NOWS
• Administering blood and blood products, performing neonatal dosage calculations, and managing neonatal sepsis care
• Operating specialized equipment including oscillators, jet ventilators, bubble CPAP, HFNC, and transcutaneous CO2 monitors
• Supporting advanced procedures such as umbilical lines, lumbar punctures, PICC line placement, and intubation
• Providing phototherapy and managing thermoregulation for your patients
• Floating to Mother Baby (couplet care) and pediatrics units as needed
• Working every other weekend and 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)

Requirements:

• Current RN license (Compact or Louisiana)
• Minimum 2 years NICU experience if you've previously traveled; minimum 3 years NICU experience if this is your first travel assignment
• BLS and NRP certifications; AHA certifications required
• Experience with Epic charting system
• Current residence over 65 miles from the facility address
