NICU RN Job in Monroe, LA

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport - Monroe Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 16, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,392.

Position Details

• 4x12 night shift schedule
• Every other weekend required (2–4 shifts per 4-week schedule)
• Must work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Occasional floating to postpartum and pediatrics units
• Patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends
• Average daily census of 10 patients across 11 beds

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide care for neonates in both the NICU and Newborn Nursery
• Attend high-risk deliveries and conduct car seat testing
• Perform circumcisions and coordinate hearing screens
• Administer blood and blood products; manage arterial, central, UAC, and UVC lines
• Provide developmental care, neonatal dosage calculations, and all feeding types (bottle, breast, gavage)
• Manage high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), high-frequency ventilation, Vapotherm, and oxygen delivery systems
• Care for neonates with neonatal abstinence syndrome, neonatal sepsis, meconium aspiration, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Perform phlebotomy, phototherapy, and therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket)
• Manage telemetry monitoring

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license (Compact or Louisiana)
• Minimum 2 years NICU experience
• Epic charting system experience
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and CPI (CPI can be obtained during hospital-wide orientation)
• AHA certifications required
