NICU RN Job in Lafayette, LA

Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Lafayette, Louisiana. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 9, 2026.

Position Details

• Work 3x12 night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Must work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Patient ratio of 1:3 with an average daily census of 30 patients
• Float to mother baby (couplet care) and pediatrics as needed
• Weekly pay: $2,046
• 24 orientation hours included

Clinical Scope

You will care for neonatal patients with diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, TTN, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, feeding difficulties, thermoregulation, and NOWS. Special procedures include umbilical lines, lumbar puncture, PICC, and intubation. Equipment includes oscillator, jet, bubble CPAP, HFNC, and transcutaneous CO2 monitors.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience for previous travelers; 3 years for first-time travelers
• Administration of blood and blood products
• Neonatal dosage calculations and sepsis management
• Oxygen delivery systems and phototherapy
• IV initiation and maintenance
• Epic charting system experience

Credentials and Licensing

• Current BLS and NRP (AHA certifications required)
• Compact or Louisiana license required upon submittal
