Surgical Tech - Surgical Tech CVOR

Job Details:

• Work under the direct supervision of an RN in the operating room environment
• Must possess strong clinical knowledge and skills regarding operating room procedures
• Actively participate in time-out procedures and follow all safety protocols
• Label all solutions and medications with name and strength before transfer to the sterile field
• Perform counts according to policy with no deviations except in emergency situations
• Follow policy for the safe handling of specimens, implants, and explants
• Check packaging and containers for integrity to promote aseptic technique
• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical technologist role including procedures, instrumentation, and equipment needed
• Must be scrubbed and in room before patient enters
• Efficient in set-up for procedures with knowledge of sutures and supplies appropriate for each case
• Maintain and protect the sterile field during procedures and demonstrate proper sterile techniques
• Practice safe working habits including proper use of PPE, blade holders, neutral zone, and sharps containers
• Communicate effectively with all team members and follow chain of command
• Return room to ready state at end of each case and assist with cleaning and stocking of the room
• Assist with ancillary duties such as cleaning rooms between cases and helping in the central sterile area
• Demonstrate ability to expedite room turnover and strong organizational skills
• Open suture and supplies on an as-needed basis
• Practice good care of instruments and equipment using fluids and enzyme cleaner
• Report any broken or unusable instruments or equipment to the nurse leader
• Must be highly motivated, self-directed, and possess a positive attitude with strong communication skills
• Flexible work schedule required with willingness to take on ancillary duties
• Willing to precept and assist peers and students when needed
