About this role

You will work as a registered nurse in the Operating Room at Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. in Louisville, Kentucky. This is a part-time position with two shift options available: 24 hours per week from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, or 16 hours per week from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Each shift is 8 hours. The assignment duration is 96 weeks, with a start date of September 21, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,782.40.

In this role, you will implement professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person within a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. Your practice will be grounded in evidence-based care, current research, hospital and department policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments in accordance with RN scope of practice
  • Incorporate all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity into clinical decision-making
  • Consider patient culture, age, and developmental level when designing care actions and interventions
  • Identify patient risk factors, presenting complaints, and collect objective and subjective data
  • Develop and prioritize patient problem lists based on input from the inter-professional team
  • Determine desired outcomes in coordination with patient and family in accordance with the medical plan of care
  • Implement patient care therapies and procedures with clinical autonomy within scope of practice
  • Explain procedures, treatments, and processes to patients and families
  • Recognize, respond to, and communicate changes in patient condition appropriately
  • Conduct and document ongoing assessments and responses to procedures and therapies
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and oversee team members in patient care activities
  • Identify and address educational needs of patients based on level of comprehension
  • Facilitate the patient discharge process including discharge teaching and coordination with Case Management
  • Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement activities including patient satisfaction, fall prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, and CAUTI monitoring
  • Promote a positive group dynamic and healing environment through words and actions
