PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with shift times of 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Cyclic scheduling with every other weekend requirement
• 1 major and 1 minor holiday requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Care for patients with common diagnoses including heart failure, AFib, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Required to titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
• Required to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• Work with CPAP equipment and troubleshoot as needed
• May float to ICU if appropriate experience is present
• 1 orientation shift of 12 hours in the department
• Fast-paced unit with high volume of admits and discharges
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignment
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available on unit at a 1:10 ratio
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must pass an open book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
