About this role

MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown is seeking a Cath Lab Technologist to join its Radiology and Cardiology team. You will work in a high-volume interventional laboratory performing diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures.

Schedule and Hours

  • 4x10-hour day shifts, 0700–1730, Monday through Thursday
  • Shift end times vary as staff remain until procedures are complete
  • On-call requirement: one weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) per month, plus one call shift and one evening shift per week
  • Holiday coverage required as needed
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called-off hours can be broken down to equal 1 shift
  • No floating between service lines or sister facilities

Caseload and Responsibilities

  • Daily caseload of 4 to 5 labs with 2 CVTs per lab, approximately 20 cases per day
  • Perform scrub and monitor functions in coronary diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • Manage left and right heart catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA)
  • Assist with advanced procedures including Impella, intraaortic balloon pump (IABP), atherectomy, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), fractional flow reserve (FFR/IFR), pericardiocentesis, and cardiac biopsies
  • Operate specialized equipment: Angiojet, Shockwave, MAC Lab documentation, and Vidistar image storage
  • Monitor cardiac activity and stent placement; support temporary pacer and thrombolysis/thrombectomy procedures
  • Patient populations include adults and geriatrics

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Cath Lab experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • ARRT or RCIS certification (registered or in process)
  • South Carolina license (SCRQSA)
  • Proficiency in coronary diagnostic and interventional scrub and monitor functions
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Radiation badge required; provided by agency

Compensation and Benefits

  • Weekly pay: $2,448
  • Assignment duration: 91 days
  • Start date: August 31, 2026
  • Hospital-issued scrubs provided
