ICU Registered Nurse Job in Abilene, TX

Join Hendrick Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. You will provide direct patient care in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your clinical expertise and independent judgment are valued.

Role Overview

You will work three 12-hour shifts per week on days, managing a 3:1 patient ratio. The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients ranging from low acuity ICU to high acuity telemetry cases. All patients receive in-room continuous cardiac and vital sign monitoring. You will practice RN-driven care with supporting assistance from patient care technicians and will independently consult with the medical management team regarding changes in patient condition.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage complex cardiac IV infusions including Levophed, Cardene, Neosynephrine, and Insulin drips requiring frequent titrations and continuous monitoring
• Care for post-TNK patients requiring frequent neurological assessments
• Manage patients with high oxygen requirements, pericardial drains, temporary pacemakers, Femstop management, STEMI post cath, EKOS treatment for DVT, and snakebite post-antivenom administration
• Perform arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care, tracheostomy care, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and wound care

Schedule and Requirements

You will work self-scheduling shifts with on-call required once every 6 weeks and 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. You must have 2 years of ICU experience; previous charge experience, travel experience, Trauma Level II experience, and Altera charting experience are preferred.

This 91-day assignment begins September 21, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,089.
