ICU Registered Nurse Job in Odessa, TX

You will provide direct patient care in a new progressive care unit at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX. This role offers flexibility and variety as you support medical/surgical telemetry, progressive care, and critical care patients in a universal suite environment where rooms adapt based on patient diagnosis and acuity level.

Your Responsibilities

• Care for ICU patients across telemetry, progressive care, and critical care areas
• Float to medical/surgical telemetry, progressive care, or critical care units during low census periods
• Manage patients with conditions including AFib with rapid ventricular response, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, post-percutaneous coronary intervention, diabetic ketoacidosis, COPD and asthma exacerbations, stable ventilators, high oxygen requirements, heart failure, and renal failure
• Serve adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations

Unit Details

• Patient ratios: 6:1 for medical/surgical telemetry, 2:1 for critical care, 4:1 for progressive care days, nights, and weekends
• Weekend coverage required
• Self-scheduling with no on-call expectations
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Continuous bedside monitoring and arterial line capabilities

Required Qualifications and Certifications

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and TCAR/TNCC certifications (facility may allow start with TNCC pending completion of TCAR within the required timeframe)
• Cerner electronic health record system experience
• Trauma Level II experience preferred

• Arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, ventilator care, central line care, chest tube management, heparin protocols, high-flow nasal cannula, arterial blood gas interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, pacemaker management, patient-controlled analgesia, PICC line management, telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip titration, vasoactive and insulin drip management, tracheostomy care, wound care and wound vac management, and rapid response/code team collaboration
