PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in critical care or PACU in an acute care setting required
• Minimum 2 years of experience with airway management required
• Experience with central lines and post-procedure care as obtained in a critical care/PACU environment required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or ARC)
• California RN license required
• Provide competent care to patients with a variety of diagnoses including cardiovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, neurological, renal, and endocrine conditions, sepsis, carcinoma, and pre- and post-operative surgical patients including pediatric patients
• Recognize life-threatening conditions and intervene appropriately
• Identify patients at risk for injury and skin breakdown and provide patient education and discharge instructions utilizing the electronic health record (EHR)
• Develop, implement, and coordinate an interdisciplinary plan of patient and family care
• Anticipate and recognize potential problems and intervene appropriately by notifying the Charge Nurse, Physician, and other nursing staff as needed
• Provide individualized nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of bio-physical and psychosocial patient needs
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills and in-depth knowledge of nursing process
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of unit-specific age criteria for patient population
• Adhere to Infection Control Principles, Patient Bill of Rights, and Standards of Practice
