About this role
Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). You will work 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts with staggered start times between 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM, subject to change with 2-hour notice. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 12, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,044.
Your Schedule:
- 12-hour day shifts with rotating start times
- Every other weekend requirement
- Call requirement during the week, typically 2 days per week (Saturday night and Sunday day or night on a rotational basis)
Your Role:
You will manage a 2:1 patient ratio and care for post-operative patients in both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery. You must be knowledgeable in patient discharge processes and provide appropriate after-care instructions. Common cases include total joint replacement, hysterectomy, total shoulder surgery, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, dilation and curettage, spinal fusion, laminectomy, AV fistula creation, brain tumor excision, robotic-assisted procedures, elective cardioversion, and transesophageal echocardiography. This unit has a heavy orthopedic focus.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips using GE Spacelabs monitors
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and work with ventilators and intracranial pressure monitors
- Ability to troubleshoot ventilators (Bayer); respiratory therapy maintains equipment
- Pediatric recovery experience required (from day of birth; no neonates)
- Minimum 2 years of recovery or ICU experience (first-time travelers accepted)
- California nursing license required
Required Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- CPAN or CCRN preferred
Additional Information:
- 3-shift floor-specific orientation covering Surginet charting, patient care processes, critical patients, and ICU patient recovery
- Electronic Medical Record: Cerner/Surginet
- Scrub color: Navy or facility-supplied
- BSN not required
