PACU Registered Nurse Job in Castro Valley, CA

Sutter Health Eden Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This 91-day travel assignment begins November 16, 2026, and offers you the opportunity to deliver high-quality recovery care in a structured, collaborative environment.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide Phase I recovery care for general surgery and procedural patients receiving general anesthesia and deep sedation in a 12-bed PACU
• Manage patient admissions and discharges for same-day procedures across all age groups, including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Float to perioperative areas as needed for Phase II recovery of moderate sedation patients in Interventional Radiology, GI, and Surgery
• Monitor end-tidal CO2, manage arterial lines, perform airway assessments, recognize and manage dysrhythmias, and provide conscious sedation and pain management
• Maintain a 2:1 patient ratio on days, nights, and weekends

Schedule and Compensation

Work five 8-hour shifts with variable start times between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. On-call and weekend shifts are required as needed. You will earn $2,517 per week.

Requirements

• Current California RN license
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Previous charge nurse experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Demonstrated competency with IV management, dysrhythmia recognition, airway assessment, and conscious sedation

Preferred Qualifications

• Trauma Level I and Level II experience
• Travel nursing experience
• Proficiency with a broad range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, neurology, vascular, thoracic, gynecology, urology, and plastics
