PACU Registered Nurse Job in Berkeley, CA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Sutter Health Alta Bates Summit Medical Center Ashby in Berkeley, California. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a weekly pay of $2,372.

Schedule and Expectations

• 4 x 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday
• Variable start times, with the latest start time at 11:00 AM
• Occasional on-call shifts required
• Float between PACU and Same Day Surgery (Phase I and Phase II areas)

Core Responsibilities

• Provide competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care for Same Day Surgery and PreOp patients
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning factors
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and other disciplines
• Administer treatments, medications, and perform nursing skills in a timely manner
• Monitor patient condition and communicate significant changes to physicians
• Respond to medical and environmental emergencies in a calm, efficient, and competent manner
• Serve as liaison between nursing and medical staff to facilitate collaborative patient care

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Surgical specialty experience including ENT, general, gynecology, neuro, ophthalmology, orthopedics, and vascular
• Phase I PACU, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition and management, blood product administration, central line care and management, IV vasopressors, narcotics and opioid analgesics, reversal agents, conscious sedation, post-epidural management, malignant hyperthermia protocol, pain assessment and management, and PCA pump management
• Charting system experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred

Required Credentials

• Valid California RN license
• ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
