NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• Work 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• On-call required occasionally
• Float required to Mother/Baby and Postpartum units
• Every other weekend required with 7 weekend shifts per 13-week contract
• Patient ratio of 1:3 for days, nights, and weekends
• Experience in Level II or Level III NICU required
• Experience attending deliveries and neonatal resuscitation required
• Mother/Baby couplet care experience required
• Postpartum experience preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Charting system experience required - Epic
• Community hospital experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE
• Valid California RN license required
• Stabilize and manage infants at Level II NICU level (34 weeks and above)
• Perform and assist with procedures including CPAP, UVC/UAC lines, nasal cannula, IV therapy, antibiotics, and blood transfusions
• Manage Eat/Sleep/Console protocols for drug withdrawal and gavage feedings for feeder-grower infants
• Stabilize and manage patients for transfer to higher level of care including intubation, surfactant administration, and umbilical line placement
• Treat patient diagnoses including hypoglycemia, prematurity greater than 34 weeks, drug withdrawal, rule-out sepsis, respiratory distress, and hyperbilirubinemia
• Operate specialized equipment including CPAP, infant ventilator, nasal cannula, Alaris and ICU Medical IV pumps, Medela breast pump, breast milk warmer, and Draeger infant warmer
• Administer medications and manage skills including blood and blood product administration, magnesium sulfate therapy, phototherapy, and neonatal abstinence syndrome protocols
• Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
