NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts starting at 7:00 PM/7:30 PM
• Every other weekend requirement, including both Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday requirements include 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1
• Level III NICU with 26 beds
• 3 years of NICU experience in a Level III NICU required
• Must have experience titrating drips including dopamine, dobutamine, versed, and fentanyl
• Required certifications: BLS, LA City Fire & Safety, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS
• Common patient diagnoses include premature infants, sepsis, surgical cases such as gastroschisis, and EVAs
• RT equipment includes oscillators, nasal CPAP, rare vents, giraffes for bassinets, atom incubators, and radiant warmers
• NICU RNs attend high-risk deliveries in L&D
• RNs responsible for monitoring patients in open bay area with monitors
• Self-scheduling by seniority with manager balancing the schedule
• First to float to the Nursery and Pediatrics (sister unit); Pediatrics consists of 12 beds with low acuity patients typically presenting with RSV and pneumonia
• Orientation includes 3 shifts on the unit with a preceptor, 6 hours in the nursery, and 6 hours in pediatrics
• Charting system: Cerner
• BSN not required
• Scrub color: Navy
