Med Surg RN Job in Cedar Rapids, IA

UnityPoint - St. Luke's Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg on a temporary basis. You will work the night shift, rotating between Med Surg and Stepdown units in a float capacity.

Position Details

• Schedule: 3x12 nights, every other weekend
• Duration: 91 days, starting September 28, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,304
• No on-call responsibilities
• Non-billable orientation: 16 hours
• Patient ratios on nights: 1:6

Shift & Overtime

• Billable overtime applies between 36–40 hours per week
• Overtime billable after 40–48 hours per week

Expectations

• Float between Med Surg and Stepdown units
• Care for all types of patients in med surg and stepdown settings
• Administer and titrate nitro, heparin, and amiodarone
• Scrub colors required: black or navy
• Required to work 1–2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Required to work 1–2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)

Qualifications

• Minimum 36 months of progressive care, stepdown, or med surg experience
• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license
• EPIC EMR experience required
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA or ARC) certifications required
• Stepdown experience preferred
• Critical care experience a plus
• Neurology care experience preferred
• Oncology care experience preferred
• Professional reference from charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within past 24 months preferred
• Driver's license required
